1 · About the project
Solane designs solid silver pieces, without stones. Bangles, open rings, solid link chains. One permanent collection: no seasons, no capsules, no limited editions. A piece enters the catalogue the day it is right, and never leaves it.
The drawing was never the problem, it was excellent. The problem was everything stacked around it. Every piece carried a first name and a legend: a pebble picked up on a beach, a grandmother, a Greek summer. The story took up all the room and the piece stood behind it. And that story is told by every contemporary jeweller, in the same words and the same images.
2 · The process
The repositioning came down to a subtraction: remove the story, then check that the form holds on its own. It did. The whole system is then built so that no narrative can move back in.

Design note
Kilvern · Art direction
“Every jewellery house tells the same story, and they tell it well. That is exactly why it is worth nothing any more. I removed the first name, the journey, the grandmother and the hand that wears the piece. What is left is a form in the dark, and a measurement to name it. The only risk in this position is boredom: I answered it with composition and light, never with a prop dropped into the frame to fill the emptiness.”
